The Juvenile Justice Center is a renovation of a 28,160 SF facility and major addition resulting in a 62,840 SF building, completing a build out of an entire city block in downtown Vancouver. The JJC sits prominently in the cluster of County buildings across from the Clark County Courthouse. The facility includes two courtrooms, Court Commissioner’s chambers, detention areas with medical, exercise and other support spaces. Also included are Court administration offices, intake and booking areas as well as expanded detainee/public visitation spaces. Construction is predominantly brick with compatible concrete masonry unit accents over concrete and masonry structure. Other materials used on the exterior include glass block, standing seam metal roofs and wall panels with covered entrances at the two primary building entrances.
Construction was successfully completed while the existing building was occupied, including the addition of a youth inspired mural on the exterior wall facing the Courthouse.
